Wild Rose organizes monthly training days, from January to August (indoors & outdoors), held in a central Alberta location.
The intent of training days are:
- To support and reinforce the ongoing training members undertake individually
- Work together on basic training principles, techniques and drills for young or inexperienced dogs as well as older more experienced dogs
- Opportunity to work with live birds (when in season)
- Help our canines stay in the learning mode
- Prepare for summer training and ultimately the hunting season
- Prepare for NAVHDA testing that Wild Rose members may be interested in
Wild Rose must pay insurance premiums for all attendees at training activities, whether or not they participate in dog training. Non-members attending any club training activities will be charged $20 per person per day to cover the cost of insurance.
Later training activities take place outdoors, in rugged terrain, and the weather is variable. Bring water and crates for your dogs to keep them comfortable when not working. Weather appropriate clothing and comfortable, protective footwear are essential. Sunscreen, insect repellent, and a lawn chair will help keep handlers and spectators comfortable throughout the day.
All participants, both trainers and spectators, are expected to adhere to the Training Day Guidelines.
