Wild Rose, a sanctioned local chapter of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association, was founded in 2003 and comprises members throughout the province of Alberta and its neighbouring provinces.
Alberta’s Wild Rose chapter is a dedicated group of versatile dog owners and hunter conservationists dedicated to honing the natural abilities of our dogs, increasing the training knowledge and skills as dog handlers in order to develop excellent hunter and hunting dog teams. Our goal is to help our members become better handlers and to fully realize the potential of our versatile hunting dogs. We recognize that hunter conservation participation has been falling in Alberta and elsewhere. Wild Rose is committed to recruiting, reactivating and retaining bird hunters as a way of ensuring the continuation of hunting traditions and hunter supported conservation activities.
IN 2024, WILD ROSE WILL CELEBRATE 21 SUCCESSFUL YEARS!
The chapter organizes training sessions and sponsors NAVHDA tests. We also provide a forum to share our challenges, knowledge and experiences and to strike up local training partnerships to allow us to become better dog handlers and trainers. A wide mix of breeds have been represented in the Wild Rose chapter such as Cesky Fousek, German Shorthaired Pointer, German Wirehaired Pointer, Brittany Spaniel, Large Munsterlander, Longhaired Pointer, Pudelpointer, Small Munsterlander, Vizsla, Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, and Weimaraner.
